Lenna Dowdy

Lenna Doretha Knight Dowdy, 77 passed away peacefully January 9, 2015 at Bethany Nursing Center of Vidalia after an extended illness. She was born October 18, 1937 to Vira Seckinger Knight and Gross Knight and lived in Glennville all of her life. She was an only child and was her mom and dad's whole heart. She was a 1956 Graduate of Glennville High School and employed at Reese's 301 Drive-In Restaurant for several years. She met her husband of 37 years Howard Dowdy and was married June 6, 1966 in a beautiful country ceremony at the Dowdy home place. She was member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church and loved the farm life and being outdoors with all the animals. Doretha treasured anything pertaining to Elvis Presley and the John F. Kennedy Family. She is preceded in death by her, parents, husband, Howard Dowdy, foster brother in law, Tony Bailey.
She is survived by, foster sister, Vonnie Woodcock Bailey of Glennville

Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home. Graveside Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm Tuesday at the Glennville City Cemetery with Rev Jerry Knight officiating.
