Lois Akins Hodges, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 at her residence under the care of her daughters and sons- in -law. She was born November 13, 1917 in Glennville to Thomas Cleveland and Florence Barnard Banks and was a graduate of Georgia Teachers College(now Georgia Southern University). As a young adult she began teaching in a one room school and continued to work publicly most of her life. She enjoyed her years working with special children and adults at Tattnall-Evans Training Center where she retired at age 70. Her home was always a favorite gathering place for family and friends. She was a lifetime member of Glennville First Christian Church. She loved and served her Lord and her life inspired several generations.

She is survived by, Children, Ann and Jimmy Purvis of Savannah

Beth Waters
Sandra and Talmadge Ray
Sherrie and Mickey Wasson all of Glennville
Step Daughters, Mary Ann Britt of Smithfield N.C.
Kate and Joe Mitchell of Ponte Vedra Beach FL.
She loved and enjoyed 16 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM, Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, March 14, 2011 at Glennville First Christian Church. Burial will be in Glennville City Cemetery.
