Lois Howard Fennell Purcell, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family and under the care of Odyssey Hospice. She was born October 3, 1928 in Long County, Georgia to John Christopher (McKee) and Flossie Baxter Howard. In 1946 she married John Quinton Fennell, a Tattnall County Farmer and World War II Veteran. Quinton died in 1957 and in 1959, she married Nolan Ennis Purcell and lived in Glennville until 1967 before moving to Savannah. Her life's journey involved being a farmer's daughter, farmer's wife, mother, retail sales clerk, waitress and wife of an Army Civil Servant. In each of these phases of life, she accepted them with a challenge and found joy in her achievements. She was a fabulous cook and a immaculate homemaker. She enjoyed music, interior decorating and humbly acknowledged them as a God given talent. Her dimpled radiant smile and infectious laughter was unforgettable. Her greatest joy, however, was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The memories of that love, caring and devotion was and is without end. She will be sadly missed by family, relatives, neighbors, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Quinton Fennell, Sister, Penia Bradley, Brother, Hampton Columbus (H.C.) Howard.
