Lois Sanders

Lois Griner Sanders, 90, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, June 1, 2021. She was born on April 16, 1931 in Toombs, County to the late Philp Benjamin Griner, Sr. and Lena Griffin Griner. She was a graduate of Toombs Central High School and furthered her education at Georgia Teacher’s College with a Master’s in Education. She taught many students in Long and Tattnall Counties. Lois obtained her second Master’s degree in Counseling and served several years at Glennville High School as a counselor, after she taught English, Business Education courses and was the FBLA advisor for many years. After semi retirement she served as Title One Coordinator and then secretary for the bus barn at Tattnall County High School until 2009. Lois loved all of her students. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Glennville and loved her church family. She sang in the choir and took care of the Sunday school records until her health failed. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband of 31 years, Cecil Leon Sanders; brother Philip Benjamin Griner, Jr.; sister-in-law, Eloise Dasher Griner and nephew, David Arthur Griner.

She was a devoted mother to, Carol Sanders Godbee (Lefty Sharpton), Cecilia Sanders Sheffield (Clyde); loving grandmother to Brittany Godbee; special aunt to Barry Philip Griner (Leigh) and several other relatives.

The family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to Community Hospice and Lois’ Caregivers, Linda Davis, Ruth Ann Foster, Tonya Norman, Brenda McKeever and Sharon Davis.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 4, 2021 at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, 982 Providence Church Rd, Lyons, Georgia 30436.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to: Glennville First Baptist Church, 321 W. Barnard St. Glennville, Georgia 30427 and/or Community Hospice, P.O. Box 2277, Vidalia, Georgia 30475.
