Lonnie Skeens

November 28, 1938 — April 19, 2021

Lonnie L. Skeens, 82, passed away Monday, April 19, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family and under the care of GHC Hospice. He was born November 28, 1938 to William and Dora Rose Skeens and was a US Army Veteran. Lonnie was an insurance sales representative for 36 years and a farmer most of his life. He served on the Long County Board of Commissioners and also served as Chairman for many years. Lonnie served on many planning and development boards for Long County. He was a member of Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church where served as a deacon since 1965. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis Skeens.

He is survived by:

Loraine Bishop (Franklin) of Blackstone, VA
Linda Hutchison of Glennville, GA
Patsy Reddish Estes (Raymond) of Glennville, GA

Grandchildren, Tiffanie Nobles (William), Lacie Gibbs (Patrick),
Angela Swindell (Ty), Grady Skeens, Joanna Skeens

Eight great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Cason and Rev. Dan Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers: Ty Swindell, Patrick Gibbs, William Nobles, Greg Hughes, Grady Skeens, Dewayne Kennedy, Larry Kennedy, Mike Lamb.

Social distancing of three feet due to Covid 19 will be enforced and masks are asked to be worn on all services.
