She left Glennville at the age of 20 for Erie, Pennsylvania, where she worked as a buyer in a large department store. Her next stop was in Rochester, New York, where she was a college bookstore manager. She then went to Tampa, Florida, where she worked as a purchasing agent for the state university system at the University of South Florida.
In 1975 she married Rev. Ken Lescalleet and started a whole different chapter in her life. From 1976 - 1982 they pastored two United Methodist churches in Tampa and Clearwater, Florida. From 1982 - 1995 they had a non-denominational church, as well as an adult living facility in Clearwater, Florida. In 1995 they retired and came home to Glennville where they renovated houses. In 2009 they moved to Savannah to be near Candler Hospital due to her battle with congestive heart failure.
She was first and foremost a born again child of God who had a strong love for God, her family and her husband. Even while enduring lengthy hospital stays, she was always ready to talk about her Heavenly Father's house with a smile, a hug, advice, and kindness.
Peggy will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those who knew and loved her.
