Martin Akins

Martin R. Akins, 88, has gone to join his beloved wife, Medra, in the Kingdom of Heaven. Marty had lived a full life and everyone he touched with his presence found him a very difficult man not to love.
Born on December 16, 1922 in Glennville, GA and armed with only a high school education, he was able to accomplish, through hard work, determination and a brilliant mind, a lifetime of successes. Marty worked two jobs at a time for most of his life, retiring from Southern Bell Telephone Company and devoting his full efforts to developing, along with his sons and wife, Alarm Control Inc., the premier alarm company in South Florida. Marty and Medra retired to the Florida Keys and eventually found their way home to Glennville, GA, where they will spend eternity in each others' arms. He is preceded in death by his brother, Renford Akins
He is survived by, two sons, Terry (wife Cynthia) and Ken (wife Beverly), three grandchildren, Todd Akins (wife Allison), Shannon Lukach (husband Doug), Ashley Akins and one great granddaughter, Brooke. His brother, Joe Bradham, sister, Vanira Daniel
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, February 14, 2011 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 PM, February 15, 2011 at the chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum of Glennville Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 509 W. Mann St, Glennville, GA 30427.
