Mary Ann Mixon Blanton, 88, passed away peacefully at her residence Friday, April 12, 2024, under the care of Regency Southern Care Hospice, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 16, 1936, in Toombs County to Lester and Martha Mixon. After graduating from Lyons High School in 1954, she met and married the love of her life, Richard Blanton, and they settled in Glennville.
Mary Ann worked in the healthcare field for many years as a CNA. She was employed at numerous places including Glenvue Nursing Home and Home Health Care agency where she loved and enjoyed taking care of her patients. Her main passions in life were taking care of her family, fishing and traveling. Some of her favorite trips were to the mountains, cruises and traveling with Kelly Excursions on exciting scenic trips.
Mary Ann was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She served as a Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher and served on the social committee providing food for church functions. She welcomed many pastors and their families into her home for Sunday lunch.
Mary Ann loved her community providing food and notes in the time of sickness and grief. In the past few years, she and Richard attended Northside Baptist Church and was active in many church activities. She loved the Lord and serving others.
Mary Ann loved to cook and provide meals to all. She would always say “fix a plate” and if she heard of a shut-in, she would immediately send one over.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Martha Mixon.

Marie Carter (Chris) of Cobbtown, Georgia
Crystal Griffin (David) of Glennville, Georgia
Justin Flowers (Tori) of Glennville, Georgia
Sisters-in-law, Judy Blanton of Glennville, Georgia
Virgina Blanton of Jesup, Georgia
Special Nephew, that she shared a birthday with, Emory Mixon of Lyons, Georgia
Eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 15, 2024, at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Justin Ray officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Glen Dasher and her caregivers, Kay, Janet, Linda and her granddaughter, Crystal.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to American Diabetes Association or the Gideons International.
