Mary Elizabeth Harrell 87, passed away Sunday, April 06, 2014 at Evans Memorial Hospital. She was born in Jeffersonville, Georgia September 17, 1926 to Theodore D. and Edna Sangster Holliday and moved to Tattnall County in 1947. She retired from teaching school with over 50 years of teaching kindergarten, first and second grades in Tattnall County Public Schools. She received an award from Who's Who Among American Teachers in 1994 and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was a loving, caring, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She is a long time member of Glennville United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Sue Holliday and Laura Bayne Wood; one brother, T. D. Holliday Jr., and a great-great grandson, Rueben Hendrix.
She is survived by,
Husband of 67 years: Donald Harrell of Glennville
Children: Lynette Greene and Jimmy (Joyce) Harrell all of Glennville
Brothers: Donald Holliday and Jack Holliday both of Jeffersonville, Georgia
Three GrandchildrenRafe (Dana) Waters, Shanna Waters and Jennifer (Jeremy) Grooms
Five Great-Grandchildren:Madison Gamblin, Allison Waters, Delaney Waters, Clay Grooms and Jacob Grooms
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 beginning at 6:00 pm at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Glennville United Methodist Church with Rev. Sam Wilder and Dr. Rick Cason officiating. Burial will follow in Glennville City Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service.
