Mary "Virginia" Stanfield, 91, of Woodbine, Ga passed away on May 24, 2022 at her residence.
Virginia was born on May 23, 1931 in Stapleton, Ga to the late James & Pauline Rooks. She graduated from Asbury College where she received her Bachelors degree in Education and then worked for Camden County School System as a teacher where she has taught the majority of children in Camden County until she retired in 1991. She was dedicated to her Woodbine United Methodist Church and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and collecting coins. She was a Braves fan, loved to travel to see her family and was known as "Mema" to everyone who knew her. Virginia loved her family and especially her grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by her children, Joseph L. Stanfield, Jr. (Velvet) of Glennville, Ga and James M. Stanfield of Woodbine, Ga. A sister in law, Rachel Widener, and her grandchildren, Jamie Neal (Chad), Stephanie Rush (Stan), Sara Meadows (Wes), Joseph Stanfield, III (Katie), & Maylon Stanfield. Great grandchildren, Carson Neal, Cooper Neal, Cole Neal, Fisher Rush, Finn Rush, Emmaline Rush, Mason Meadows, Emery Stanfield & Molly Stanfield.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Stanfield, Sr., siblings, Voncile Rooks, Etheridge Rooks, Joyce Dixon, Shelby Harden, Willadean Kuykendall, Buddy Rooks, Jimmie Clark , John Owen Rooks & Sonya Usry.
Pallbearers will be Barry Rooks, Tim Rooks, Joseph Stanfield, III, Maylon Stanfield, Chad Neal, Stan Rush, Keith Usry & Carson Neal.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Hospice of the Golden Isles and her caregivers, Gayle Gibbs, Joy Griffin, Monica Raley, Cassidy Taylor & Lisa Walker.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 11:00 am at Woodbine United Methodist Church with Jan Conner officiating. Visitation will start at 10:00 am prior to service time. Burial will be at Watermelon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Glennville, Ga.
In lieu of flowers, make donations to Hospice of the Golden Isles or Woodbine United Methodist Church.
