Gloria Modena Knight Collins, 95, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at her home in Statesboro where she was surrounded by her family and under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice..  She had lived at Southern Manor Assisted Living for the past five years.  She was born July 9,1924, in Glennville to Joe and Emma Elizabeth Sands Knight and lived there most of her life.

Modena married Reginald D. Collins, her childhood sweetheart, in 1942, and celebrated 72 years of marriage before his death in 2014.  Modena was a homemaker, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was a member of Glennville First Christian Church for over 80 years.  She taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Annie Carr Circle.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Karen Collins of Claxton, a daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Jack Snellgrove of McCormick, S.C., four grandchildren, Chad Snellgrove (Melissa), Clay Snellgrove (Erin), Evan Collins, and Caroline Shuman (Chase), and eight great grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2020, at First Christian Church, 9224 GA Highway 23, Glennville, GA 30427.  A celebration of her life will follow at 2:00 p.m. with the Dr. Jack Snellgrove and Rev. Chad Snellgrove officiating.  Burial will be in Glennville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers:  Brian Knight, Joey Knight, Barry Knight, Clay Snellgrove, Chase Shuman, and Teddy Blunt.
