Metter - Moses Jackson (Jay) Bowen III, 50, died Sunday, February 6, 2011 in Savannah. Jay was born in Statesboro and lived all of his life in Metter, where he attended the Metter Primitive Baptist Church. He was a graduate of David Emanuel Academy, class of '79. He was owner and operator of the Dairy Park for several years and also owned Jay's Fuel Stop the first self -serve gas station in Metter. He enjoyed hunting, especially quail and dove, where he was known for his excellent marksmanship. Jay loved the trip to New York with his daughter Jenny, and his hunting trip out west with his daughter Belle-Anne; never missed anything they were involved in. He made many friends at SCAD, while working there as a floor contractor. He loved his girls, Jenny, Belle-Anne, Vicki and Patsy. Jay's big heart, for helping others, was as well known as his statue.

He was preceded in death by his father Jack Bowen, Jr.

Survivors; his Wife, Vicki Bowen; Daughters, Jenny Bowen (Steven Brantley), Belle-Anne Bowen; his Mother, Patsy Bowen, all of Metter; Sisters, Brenda (Danny Oliff), Metter, Angel Houge (Dennis), Patty Gosh (Kurt); Sister-In-Law, Judy Quinney; Brother-In-Law, Toby (Michele Roberts); twelve nieces; nine nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the Metter Primitive Baptist Church, with burial in the Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 4-8 p.m., also at the church. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until funeral time at 3 p.m.
