Mrs. Shirley Jean Godbee Kemp, 78, of Metter, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at her residence.
Mrs. Kemp was born on December 21, 1941 to Mr. Clarence and Mrs. Viola Bell Enlow Godbee in Kathwood, S.C. The Savannah native moved to Metter in 1966 and was a homemaker. She attended Pulaski Baptist Church and in her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, taking care of anyone who came through the back door, loved to read devotionals and her bible every day, watching Judge Judy, The People’s Court, The Price is Right, and solving word puzzles and Sudoku. She was a loving caring wife, mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bobby Kemp, Sr. of Metter; children, Eddie Kemp, Todd Kemp (Jodie) and Scott Kemp of Metter; siblings, Butch Godbee of Bloomingdale, Miriam Hayes of Richmond Hill, Trudelle Garrett of Gainsville, Gerald Gautreau of Richmond Hill, Debbie Weaver of Bloomingdale, Carol Lentz of Michigan and Tonya Richardson of Atlanta; grandchildren, Abbie Johnson (Blake), Leiann Kemp, Aubri Kemp and Alex Kemp. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the Metter Chapel of Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Pulaski Baptist Church with Elder Randy Waters officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Cemetery.
