Mr. Tse Vincent Chan, 87, of Metter passed away, Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice and surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Chan was born on February 19, 1934 to Tse Man and Alice Lee Chan in Hong Kong, China. He attended Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia and moved to the United States in 1960. He was retired as a mechanical engineer with International Nickel Corporation after many years of loyal service. He was a member and Elder of the Metter Presbyterian Church and a member of the Carolina Mountain Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, listening to classical music, loved to cook, and was known as the coolest cook, also loved photography, in his younger years he was a race car driver and enjoyed rock climbing with his wife, Jean. He was a loving caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Ellen Chen.
He is survived by:
Wife of 21 years: Jean Hutcheson Chan of Metter, Georgia
Daughter: Cathy Karlak (Brian) of San Francisco, California
Stepson: Al Harper (Betsy) of Sylvania, Georgia
Brother: Francis Chan (Joyce) of Houston, Texas
Grandchildren: Elsinore Karlak, Dylan Harper (Ashley) and Gavin Harper
Great-Grandchildren: Audrey, Alyssa, Ava and Blake Harper.
Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Metter Presbyterian Church with Reverends Mark George and David Dudley officiating. Burial will be private and held at a later date.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic all CDC social distancing guidelines of six feet encouraged masks are not required.
Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Home of Metter, Georgia is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Tse Vincent Chan.
