Mr. Wallace Kennedy Dekle, 94, of Metter, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Hospice of Savannah.
Mr. Dekle was born on September 18, 1925 to Mr. Paul and Mrs. Minnie Lee Kennedy Dekle in Candler County. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and owner of the Farmer Union Warehouse and Trapnell Cotton Gin. He was a founding member of Willow Lake Golf Club and was an avid golf player. He was a member of Metter Primitive Baptist Church and the Metter Rotary Club. He was the oldest living season ticket holder at the University of Georgia and attended all the games he could. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ray Dekle.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl Odum (Ollie) of Savannah, GA and Karen Goggans (John) of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Heather Jean and John Goggans, Jr.; great grandson, Jack Jean. Several other relatives and friends also survive.
The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Metter Primitive Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Metter Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Mike Newman officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ollie Odum, Bill Banks, Stacy McCorkle, Gregg Wolff, Al Bland and Billy Wright.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Goggans, Jr. and C.B. Jones.
Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes, Metter Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
