Mr. Willard Jones, Sr.

Mr. Willard Douglas Jones, Sr., 93, of Metter, passed away, Monday, October 5, 2020 at his residence under the care of Kindred Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Jones was born on September 16, 1927 to Mr. William Marshall Jones, Sr. and Mrs. Laura Stewart Jones in Crawfordville, GA. He lived most of his life in McDuffie County moving to Metter ten years ago. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Marine Corps.; after being discharged from the Marines he later retired as Construction Engineer with Ft. Gordon after many years of loyal service. He was a member of Cedar Street Baptist Church and Raysville Bass Masters in Thomson. In his spare time enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, William Marshall Jones, Jr., Anna Laura Hubert, and Margaret Lipscomb.

Brother, Bobby Wayne Jones (Mary Anne) of Crawfordville, GA

Grandchildren, Aaron Dye, Jennie Matoy, Samantha and Mallory Jones.

One Great-Grandchild, Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Cedar Street Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Cedar Street Baptist Church with Rev. Bo Fulginiti officiating. Burial will follow in the Lake Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all CDC social distancing guidelines of six feet will be enforced, masks are required.
