Reidsville
Myrtice Tatum Sikes, 99, passed away July 6, 2012, nineteen days prior to her 100th birthday. She was a long-time resident of Reidsville and currently resided at Glenvue Nursing Home.
Mrs. Sikes was a loving mother and grandmother. She was an avid gardener who loved to cook and share the bounty of her garden. She was an active member of Reidsville Church of God and shared her faith in God with everyone. She attended faithfully even after moving to Glenvue.
In her seventies she was a member of the Tattnall County Travelers and traveled throughout the United States and abroad to many exciting and exotic places.
Mrs. Sikes worked for the Tattnall County Board of Education for 18 years. She also voluntarily prepared and donated meals every month for many years to the Reidsville Lions Club to help provide money for her church building fund.
In addition to her husband, Roger Wood Sikes, she is also preceded in death by two daughters, Elfreda Sikes Jones and Mathadeen Sikes Hodges; a grandson, Art Randal "Randy" Sikes; a sister, Merle Durrence; six brothers, Curtis Tatum, Dwight Tatum, Dewitt Tatum, John C. Tatum, Eugene "Tiny" Tatum, and Jimmy Tatum.

Roy W. (Mary) Sikes of Springfield
Daughters:Betsy Sikes Wicker and
Myrtle Sikes (Bill) Thomas, both of Tampa, FL
Brother:Willie Joe (Joann) Tatum of Glennville
Sister-in-Law:Nell Tatum of Glennville
15 Grandchildren, 23 Great-Grandchildren and 12 Great-Great-Grandchildren
Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be held Saturday evening, July 7, 2012 from 6-8pm at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home in Reidsville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, July 8, 2012 at Reidsville Church of God with Rev.William Prince officiating. Burial will follow in Reidsville City Cemetery.
For those who would like to pay tribute to "Miss Myrtice" in some way, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the Reidsville Church of God "Kitchen Fund". This would be the perfect way to honor this lovely lady and her lifelong passion of serving others through her love of God and her love of cooking.
