Novadean Blocker Mobley passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, June and Ben Bailey on Friday, September 17, after a long and valiant battle with strokes and breast cancer.
She was born on November 15, 1914 in Tattnall County Georgia to Albert and Della Strickland Blocker. She moved to Liberty County Georgia in 1933. She met and married Hinton Mobley in 1935. After 64 years of marriage her husband died in 1999. She became ill with strokes in March of 2000 and was cared for, in Georgia, by her son and daughter-in-law until October of 2002. She then went to live with her daughter in Oak Ridge, TN.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Hinesville, GA. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Many friends and family affectionately called her "Mama Nean", the special name given to her by her niece, Linda Keim of Stella, NC when Linda was very young.
Mama Nean also loved to quilt with her church group. She had many hobbies that included crocheting, gardening and especially raising flowers. She and her husband originated and operated the Mossy Oaks Nursery in Hinesville, GA. After her strokes and moving to Oak Ridge to live with her daughter, she enjoyed her great grandkids activities especially their ball games.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Ann Mobley Cook of McAlester, OK, two brothers, Carroll Blocker of Jesup, GA, and Denver Blocker of Allenhurst, GA.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law June and Ben Bailey, Oak Ridge, TN, son and daughter-in-law Ferrell and Judy Mobley of Hinesville, GA; a sister, Nell Newell, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, three grandchildren; Michael (Gayla) Bailey, Lea (Mark) Foxworth all of Oak Ridge and Tiffany Mobley Smith of Hinesville, GA. Six great-grandchildren; Michael Benjamin and Matthew Foxworth, Julie and Jody Bailey; all of Oak Ridge, Clayton Mobley and Taylor Smith; both of Hinesville, GA and several nieces and nephews.
"Mama Nean" cared very much for her caregivers, especially those that cared for her often, who were Billie Haddix, Tina Ledford, Alicia Hembree, Pat Behrens and Private Sitters/Eldercare.

Receiving of friends will be Tuesday, Sept. 21st from 6 to 7 PM at Weatherford Mortuary in Oakridge, TN.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010 from 1 - 2pm at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville, GA.
