Rachel “Winky” Groover Cammack, 75, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah. She was born April 30, 1946 to Rufus and Wilma Watson Groover and lived her all of her life. Winky worked outside the home as a seamstress in the sewing factory as a supervisor until her grandchildren were born. She then decided to stay at home to look after those babies. After many years Winky went back to work at the Piggly Wiggly where she retired as the manager over the deli. She was the happiest when she was spending time with her family and loved ones. Winky was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Widow’s Sunday School Class. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Quinton Cammack; siblings, Lerenso “L.J.” Groover, Ann Cammack, Gene Groover and a son, Greg Cammack.
She is survived by:
Children, Laurie C. DeAlejandro (Romeo)
Michael Cammack (Tracey) both of Glennville
Brothers, Billy “Jock” Groover of Glennville
Jim Groover of Savannah
Grandchildren, Jessica McNeal, Jennifer Bowen, Michael Cammack, Joey Cammack,
Cody DeAlejandro, Wesley Cammack, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Watermelon Creek Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Watermelon Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Social distancing of three feet due to Covid 19 will be enforced and masks are asked to be worn on all services.
