LTC Retired, Ralph Lamar Foster, 76, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah. He was born February 15, 1945 to Roy and Fannie Sims Foster and graduated from North Georgia College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years of service serving in Italy, Germany and Vietnam as a Helicopter Pilot and in Aviation Maintenance and spent time in supply and the logistic fields. He received numerous awards to include Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, Meritorious Service Medal 3D Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars and many others. After retirement he lived in Hinesville for the past 30 years, and worked for the DOL Maintenance Officer as a logistician at Ft. Stewart for a program that rebuilt components for tanks and other vehicles. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, bowling and was a member of the Khaki Klub and the V.F.W. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Roy Foster, Frances Foster, and Louise Foster.
He is survived by; Wife, Margitta J. Foster of Hinesville, GA
Children, Rachel L. Fore (Chris) of Hinesville, GA
Jessica Nash (Andrew) of Richmond Hill, GA
Siblings, Darrell Foster of TN
Doug Foster of PA
Grandchildren, Echo, Pearl, Sawyer, Jesse Nash, several other relatives also survive.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, Friday, February 11, 2022 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow Friday, at 2:00 pm, at the Chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home with full Military Honors. Burial will be at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
