Raymond Ray

March 9, 1943 — July 23, 2020

Raymond Davis Ray of Brunswick ascended into his heavenly home at his residence on July 23, 2020. Raymond was born on March 9th, 1943 to Calvin and Lois Ray of Glennville, GA.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Adams Ray of Brunswick and step-daughter, Laura Freund of Nahunta, Ga.,  Dwayne Ray (Brother), Joe Creech (Uncle), Alan Knight (Kim Knight) and Bobby Ray (Nephews), Lynn Ray (Neice), along with great neice and nephew, Taylor and Peyton Knight, grandchildren of Rev. Jerry Knight (Brother-in-law) of Glennville, GA.

Raymond is preceeded in death by Calvin and Lois Creech Ray (Parents), Janice Ray Knight (Sister), Robert Ray (Brother) Louise Creech Rogers and Eloise Creech (Aunts) .

After having served in the National Guard, Raymond worked for the Sea Island Company for thirty-three years. There he was the supervisor of the butcher shop, cutting the meat for many different chefs and teaching many apprentices whom he helped train for a future career in the culinary arts.

This world will truly miss this big-hearted gentle man, who could always be counted on for his wisdom and help. Raymond loved cars and loved working on them, which he often did. This ability brought him together with his wife, Deborah, when she had something go wrong with her Sentra. Raymond was skilled in many ways and was no stranger to a hammer and saw or even a pair of scissors if someone needed a haircut, but was unable to pay a barber.

Memorial services for Raymond will be held on Saturday, August 1st  at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home in Glennville, officiated by the Rev. Jerry Knight.
