Rebecca (Becky) Kennedy Brackin, 81, left this earthly world to meet Our Lord and Savior on November 11, 2024, under the care of Ogeechee Hospice and Glenvue Health and Rehab. Becky was born November 27, 1942, to Carl Alfred Kennedy, Jr. and Lois Ann Hopkins Kennedy in Reidsville, GA at the Jelks Clinic.
Becky graduated from Glennville High School in 1960 and left home for nursing school. While working in Hinesville GA and going to school she met the love of her life Gene, who was stationed at Ft Stewart GA, and they married on November 1, 1962. Together they had three children.
Becky enjoyed lots of hobbies, but the one thing she loved the most was singing gospel music. She loved her Lord Jesus. As a young girl she sang several times on the radio. Among her hobbies she was a good cake baker and owned her own cake business in Warner Robins for many years. She and her husband Gene also did wood crafting together and could be found in Perry doing shows in the past years. She loved anything she could do with her hands and anything that had to do with sharing time with family. Family gatherings were one of her favorite things to do.
Becky worked many years in the medical field caring for others. She was a natural caregiver. Her nursing career included working for Dr Irwin and Lawrence County Hospital in Moulton, AL and she worked for Glenvue Health and Rehab, formerly known at that time as Glennville Nursing Home in Glennville, GA. She left the medical field and went to work for the State of Georgia as a correctional officer and there she stayed until she retired.
Becky was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Glennville, GA
Becky is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Gene Brackin, parents, C.A. and Lois Kennedy, her brother, Bubba Kennedy, her son, Bobby Brackin, a nephew Bo Parrish, and a grandson, Joshua Rogers.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are, her oldest daughter, Gena Brackin Rogers of Warner Robins, GA and her youngest child Shae Brackin Stanfield (Larson) of Glennville, GA, daughter in law, Marianne Knighton Brackin of Mississippi, her sisters, Joan Waters of Claxton, GA and Penny Kennedy of Savannah, GA, brother-in-Law, Dale Brackin of Decatur AL.
Grandchildren include, Lyndsay (Zach) Deal of Auburn AL, Alannah (Benjamin) Bristow of Warner Robins, GA, Jubal Stanfield, and Gentry Stanfield of Glennville, GA, Lynda (Micah) White of Mississippi, Lacy (Stephen) Shuman of Hagan GA, David (Jill) Knighton of Georgia and Mindy Rogers of Macon GA.
Great Grandchildren include, Marianna, Ashton, Rylan, Corey, Tanner, Lilly, Dannah, James Harvey, Daylynn, Jones, Ava, & Kennedy.
Several cousins, nieces and nephews are also left behind.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 om, Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Brannen Family Funeral Services. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the chapel of Brannen Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Glennville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Larson Stanfield, Benjamin Bristow, Robbie Durrence, Charles Martin, Bailey Swope, Sean Swope.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all her nurses from Ogeechee Hospice.
