Mr. Reginald Dean (Reggie) Collins, 90, died on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Glennville native had lived in Tattnall County for most of his life. He and his wife had made their home at Gentilly Gardens Assisted Living for the past seven years.
Mr. Collins was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy. He retired after 30 years as an engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation. After leaving DOT, he worked in the Tattnall County Tax Office and for the City of Glennville.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was a member of First Christian Church of Glennville for 76 years where he held a number of positions including serving the church as an elder for over 50 years. He was a member of the Glennville Lions Club and the Glennville VFW Post # 8379. Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents, Foster and Vera Peebles Collins, two brothers, John Ed Collins and Gene Collins, and a sister, Faye Helen Collins.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife of 72 years, Modena Knight Collins, a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Karen Collins; a daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Jack Snellgrove; four grandchildren, Chad Snellgrove, Clay Snellgrove (Erin), Evan Collins, and Caroline Shuman (Chase); and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 9224 GA Highway 23, Glennville. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 with the Rev. Dr. Jack Snellgrove and Rev. Chad Snellgrove officiating. Burial will be in Glennville City Cemetery.
