Gordon Franklin Hinkle, Jr.

Metter- Mr. Gordon Franklin Hinkle, Jr. 79, of Metter died Monday morning at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro. He moved to Metter in 1998 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he owned the Whistle Stop Hobby Shop, dealing mostly in toy trains, of which he was an avid collector of. He was also an ordained Lutheran Pastor having been ordained in 1963. He was a graduate of Mount Union College in Alliance Ohio, and earned his Masters Degree from Trinity Seminary. He is preceded in death by his parents Gordon Franklin Hinkle, Sr. and Mary Hinkle.

He is survived by his wife Billie Lee Thomas Hinkle; children Kirk (Carol) Hinkle of Strongsville, Ohio, Scott (Melanie) Hinkle of McMurray, Pennsylvania, William (Leigh) Bauer of Metter, and Robin Dean also of Metter. Also surviving is his sister Elsi Stotts, of San Jose, California; and 14 Grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted on Friday, January 8, 2016 11:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Metter, with Father Peter Oyenugba officiating.
