Ricky Sikes

Metter David Richard (Ricky) Sikes, 58, died Monday at Ogeechee Area Hospice. He worked at Southern Nuclear, Georgia Power, Williams Service Group and was co-owner of Sikes Brothers Incorporated in Metter. He was a deacon and member of New Life Baptist Church of Metter and was a Gideon. He enjoyed working on classic cars, hot rods, gospel singing and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Words of Wisdom: "No matter how bad it hurts, always do what is right"

Survivors are his wife of 40 years Virginia "Ginny" Wallace Sikes of Metter, son, John David (Brandy) Sikes of Lyons, daughters, Sandi Sikes (Brent) Ponce of Birmingham, Alabama, Susan Sikes (Jack) Myers of Metter. Father, John Lester "Jr." Sikes of Metter, brothers Larry (Patty) Sikes, Timmy Sikes, sister Teresa (Ricky) Bragg all of Metter. Eight grandchildren also survive.

He was predeceased by his Mother Evelyn Findley Sikes.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 1, 2012 11 am at New Life Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Guido and Andy Haman officiating. The body will lie in state 9 am until the time of funeral service. Burial will follow in the Lake Church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 4-8 pm at New Life Baptist Church. Pall bearers will be Barney Beasley, Mike Cloud, Benny McLendon, Brent Ponce, Ken Roebuck, Ralph West. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of New Life Baptist Church.
