Rita Hendrix Lanier Cutten
Metter- Mrs. Rita Hendrix Lanier Cutten 84, of Metter died Monday evening at her home. She was a native of Metter having lived in Savannah for many years, and moved back to Metter in 2005. She was a member of Bull Street Baptist Church in Savannah. She was a graduate of Memorial Health University's Nursing School in Savannah where she was trained as a Registered Nurse in the early 1960's; she was the salutatorian of her nursing class, and worked many years as a surgical nurse. She was a published poet having had 2 poems published in the Library of Congress; and had authored many short stories for the Reader's Digest. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who loved animals and nature. She is predeceased by her husbands George W. Lanier Jr., and Billy G. Cutten; her parents Floyd A. and Zennie Patterson Hendrix, 3 sisters and 1 brother.
She is survived by the following: daughter Brenda Jo Shuman of Metter, son George Brant Lanier III., of Metter. She is also survived by 4 grandsons Kenneth Lee Flynt Jr., and James Shuman of Metter; and George Brant Lanier IV., and Robert James Lanier of Melbourne, Florida.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted Saturday December 14, 2013 2:00pm at the Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Metter.
Pallbearers: Kenneth Flynt, Ronnie Flynt, Mickey Lanier, Jimmy Hershberger, Jesse Kersey, and Hut Kingery.
