Sara Pence

Metter- Sara Jane Pence, 82, died Saturday, March 12, 2011 at St. Joseph/Candler Hospital in Savannah after an extended illness. The native of Davisboro, GA, was the daughter of the late Ouida Bryan and James Kendrick Pate. Sara Jane and her husband, Dr. Robert L. Pence, moved to Metter in 1958 when he started his medical practice at the Medical Associates of Metter. She was a member of the Metter United Methodist Church, past member of the MUMC Women's Circle and Metter Garden Club. A graduate of Georgia State College for Women, Sara Jane earned her degree as a Registered Dietician. Sara Jane enjoyed cooking, needle point, reading, playing bridge, and following The Georgia Bulldogs.
Survivors: Husband of 58 years, Dr. Robert L. Pence of Metter; Daughter, Kathy (Robbie) Thomas of Martinez; Son, Bobby (Nancy) Pence of Metter; Grandchildren: Robert Pence, Janie Pence, Jennifer Thomas; Sister in Law, Jane Pate; Niece, Lynn Bonifay. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at The Metter United Methodist Church, 30 W Lillian Street, Metter, GA, with burial in the Lake Cemetery.
