Austin "Doodlebug" Futch, 16, died Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Liberty Regional Medical Center. He was born in Savannah, Georgia, on October 11, 1997, to Timothy Futch and Lynne Todd. He lived in Glennville all his life. He was a ninth grade student at Tattnall County High School (TCHS). Born weighing only 1 lb. 3 oz., Austin was a miracle baby and lived life to the fullest. He was sent here for a purpose, surviving against all odds to add joy and happiness to the lives of others. A jokester, he delighted in his terrifying surprise scares to family and friends, who came to enjoy them. He had a deep passion for music, especially rap, with his favorite artists Eminem, Drake, Lil Wayne, Nickelback, 3 Days Grace, and 3 Doors Down, to name a few. Although he was color blind, he saw colors more vividly than most people, adding a dimension of intensity to his young life. He also saw all people as equals, with no attention paid to color or race. He was a friend to the officers at the Georgia State Patrol Office, who became known as Austins second family. Austin had no worries and lived a carefree life. His lifelong dream was to become a pilot, and the family is comforted that he now has been blessed with his license to fly with the angels. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Joyce Todd; paternal grandfather, Thomas Futch; and brother, Mikie Ansell.
He is survived by his mama, Lynne Todd of Reidsville; a very close friend, Brian Troha; and his daddy, Timothy Futch of Glennville; sisters, Micheal Ansell and Mindy Ansell, both of Reidsville; brother, Joshua Futch of Glennville; paternal grandmother, Glenda Futch of Glennville; and niece, Hunter Lane Ansell of Reidsville.
