Tommy Gene Cardell

Metter- Tommy Gene Cardell, 60, of Metter died Wednesday morning at Candler County Hospital. The Kissimmee, Florida native grew up in Metter and moved to Gainesville, GA in 1985, and returned to the area 2001. He was employed for many years by the Coca-Cola Company and worked for the Georgia Department of Corrections at Rogers State Prison in Reidsville from 2001 to 2005. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Statesboro Seventh Day Adventist Church and an Honorary Member of Cedar Street Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Eugene and Bobbie Jean Cardell, brothers Lamar Biggers, Johnny Cardell, great granddaughter Kaylie Marie Wilkerson.

He is survived by his wife Karla Kelley Cardell, son; T.J. Cardell; daughters Caren (Ricky) Fulmer, Kelley Cardell, Jessica Cardell, and Gracie Cardell all of Metter; stepdaughter Stacie Faulk Besier of Tallulah Falls, GA. Also surviving is his brother Russell (Connie) Cardell of Glenwood, GA; Sisters Judy (Pete) Davis of Claxton, GA, Wanda (Jim) Turano of Denton, TX, and Betty Cardell of Swainsboro, GA. He is also survived by grandchildren Christopher Cardell, Amy Wilkerson, great grandchild Jim Wilkerson, III. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 19, 2014 from 6-8pm at Kennedy-Brannen Funeral Homes Metter Chapel.

Graveside memorial services with burial of cremains will be conducted Sunday, September 21, 2014, 2 pm at the Lake Church Cemetery with Elder Bob Bennett officiating.
