Willie Bridges

Willie Roy Bridges 84, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta. He was born in Treutlen County, Georgia January 11, 1930 to Lawson and Hattie Paul Bridges. After graduation from Soperton High School he went to work for the Georgia Department of Transportation and moved his family to Glennville in 1969. After retirement he was an avid gardener, outdoorsman and helped his wife with her duties to the City of Glennville where she was Mayor for many years. After Mrs. Jean's retirement they moved to Augusta in 2012 to be with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a member of Glennville First Baptist Church.
He is survived by, Wife of 63 years, Jean Bridges of Augusta, GA
Daughter, Vicki (John) Gill of Columbia, SC
Sons, Wayne (Mary) Bridges of Evans, GA
Alex Bridges of Augusta, GA
Seven Grandchildren, Seven Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM, Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Brannen Kennedy Funeral Home.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, February 3, 2014 at Westview Cemetery in Soperton, Georgia with Rev David McKinley officiating.
